Ukrainian fighters at the international championships!

Two jiu-jitsu championships, the “World Cup” and the “Balkans Cup”, were held in Greece. The international competitions gathered about 1100 sportsmen from 35 countries. There were 16 fighters from Ukraine among them.

Thus, Ukrainian athletes received victorious one silver and two bronze medals at the “World Cup”. Yaroslav Vorobyov performed in the “Fighting system” discipline and took silver medal at the “World Cup” tournament. In turn, Diana Skripnyuk and Vladislav Zemskoi received bronze medals in the “Fighting system” and “Ne Waza system” disciplines.

In addition, sportsmen managed to win four bronze medals at the “Balkans Cup” open championship. Konstantin Koval and Ivan Nastenko won bronze awards of the tournament in the “Fighting” and “Ne Waza system” categories. 

Upcoming “Ternopil Open Jiu-Jitsu Championship 2018”

The “Ternopil Open Jiu-Jitsu Championship 2018” will be held in Ternopil city next week. 

Competitions are scheduled on October 9th and will be held in the SC “Politechnik”.

The sporting event will gather athletes from 4 to 35+ years old. The registration of participants is available up to the October 3rd. The championship is held under the Ukrainian Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation (UBJJF) authority.

The organizers of the event emphasize that the championship will give all athletes a great opportunity to demonstrate their BJJ skills. In addition, the BJJ beginners will have a chance to feel a competitive atmosphere and prepare for more prestigious championships.

Ukrainian fighter took gold at the «World League»

Ukrainian fighter Serhii Krasovskyi (SC "Borets") has participated in the “World League” championship, which is held under the patronage of the American Federation. 

Sportsman took the gold medal leaving his opponents far behind in score.

Earlier, Serhii Krasovskyi also took part in the “2018 Abu Dhabi Grand Slam Los Angeles” championship. Ukrainian fighter faced with Eduardo Lima, the world champion of Brazil and Europe under the version of IBJJF. According to the results, Ukrainian juvenile lost with the score 0:2.

The “2018 Abu Dhabi Grand Slam Los Angeles” championship was started in LA on 22 September 2018. 

The participants of the Ukrainian SC “Borets”/ ZR Team Ukraine were also among the competitors.

Young fighter of the SC “Borets”/ ZR Team Ukraine Serhii Krasovskyi faced with one of the best junior BJJ fighters, the IBJJF world champion of Brazil and Europe Eduardo Lima. According to the results, young Ukrainian juvenile lost with the score 0:2.

At the end of the championship, the senior member of the ZR Team Ukraine Yaroslav Blazhko won bronze of the “2018 Abu Dhabi Grand Slam Los Angeles”.

According to the head coach of the club Ievgen Skyda, the championship had a highly competitive atmosphere. Despite the results, Ievgen is pleased with the performance of his fighters. Thus they gained invaluable experience during the fight with top athletes.

Forthcoming Ukrainian championship “Lviv Open Jiu-Jitsu Championship 2018 GI”

The “Lviv Open Jiu-Jitsu Championship 2018 GI” championship has been set for September 29^th and will be held at the SC “Hratsiya”in Lviv city.

This sport event will gather athletes aged 4 – 35+. Athlete’s affiliation and registration deadline is set on September 26^th. The championship is held under the Ukrainian Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation (UBJJF) authority. This sport event provides to the competitors a great opportunity to share the unique atmosphere of jiu-jitsu competition and gain unforgettable experience.

Dnepropetrovsk region Jiu-Jitsu Championship

Fighters had an opportunity to compete at the Dnipropetrovsk region jiu-jitsu championship this weekend. The preliminary round to the region team for the Ukrainian championship (Fighting system and Ne-waza) took place in Krivoy Rog city. 

11 fighters have performed for SC “IRBIS” (Krivoy Rog). They took home 4 golds, 2 silvers and 3 bronzes. The fighters were pleased with the past championship where they received valuable experience.

The “Jiu-Collaboration” project

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu has been dynamically developing in Ukraine. Nowadays, in every Ukrainian region, there is at least one sport club specializing in this kind of martial arts. It’s unavoidably obvious that Ukraine has great prospects on the international arena.

As many already know sports BJJ base “Borets” which has recently opened its door in the Kropivnitskii city is a key example of the professional jiu-jitsu institution. Base includes a spacious wrestling hall, three-storey building with modern renovation, which can accommodate up to 30 athletes at a time, as well as a fine dining room with healthy and delicious food. But the most important thing about this sport base is that experienced Ukrainian athletes share their knowledge by the use of interesting training sessions.

In this regard, the head coach of the SC “Borets” has made a proposal: to create a strong, world-famous commonwealth of Brazilian jiu-jitsu in Ukraine. Leaders of all teams, clubs, and academies are invited to participate in the "Jiu-Collaboration" project, regardless of what stage of development they are. Both newly opened small sections and experienced clubs are encouraged to join the project. The only condition is to be specialized in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and to have a desire to develop this kind of marital arts in Ukraine.

Jiu-jitsu weekend at “Borets” sport arena

This weekend, the “Borets” sport club will host training courses. Fighters from Kiev, Dnipro, Krivoy Rog, Kropivnitskiy and even Rio de Janeiro have already confirmed their participation. 

Head coach of the SC “Borets”, Ievgen Skyrda, will be the host of the event. He will focus his attention on improving the skills of the positional fight, namely the passage of an open guard. “I will try to give not just a set of techniques, but the vision of the passage as a whole, to give the concept of thinking when passing opponents of a various kinds”, – said Ievgen.

“We will work out and develop this important skill in modern Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. To ensure that we spend as much time as possible on the aisles and get maximum efficiency in training, it will be forbidden to attack legs of the opponents during the whole weekend courses, even by using classic Achilles pass”,- added Ievgen Skyrda.

Upcoming Ukrainian BJJ Championships 2018

Seven Ukrainian championships lie ahead jiu-jitsu fighters during the second half of the year. 

These are: “Lviv Open Jiu-Jitsu Championship 2018” (September 29), “Ternopil Open Jiu-Jitsu Championship 2018” (October 6), “Kyiv Open Jiu-Jitsu Championship 2018” (October 13), “Lutsk Open Jiu-Jitsu Championship 2018” (October 27), “Khmelnytskyi Open Jiu-Jitsu Championship 2018” (November 10), “Ivano-Frankivsk Open Jiu-Jitsu Championship 2018” (November 24), “Ukrainian Open Jiu-Jitsu Championship 2018” (December 15).

Registration is open for children, juniors and adults.

Registration for the “Ukraine National Challenge” is opened!

The Ukrainian Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation (UFBJJ) has announced the start of registration for the “Ukraine National Challenge 2018” tournament. The third round of the Ukrainian national championship will take place in Lviv city on 30 September 2018.

The first official sportsmen rating in Ukraine

On the eve of the autumn-winter season, the Ukrainian Federation of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu UFBJJ has published an official rating of sportsmen.

Based on the results of the first stage of the National Jiu-Jitsu Championship of Ukraine “UKRAINE NATIONAL CHALLENGE 2018” which was held in Kharkiv city, the Ukrainian federation published the first official rating of sportsmen in Ukraine.

Overall, 34 sets of medals were hold during the championship. All winners were awarded with diplomas and medals. Moreover, the best athletes, in absolute weight categories, were awarded with certificates for the partial payment of their participations at the UAEJJF, IBJJF, and JJIF tournaments.

The second stage of the National Jiu-Jitsu Rating championship of Ukraine – the “UKRAINE NATIONAL CHALLENGE 2018” - will be held in spring, in Odessa city. In turn, Lwiv city will host the third stage of the championship in autumn. The final bouts will be held in Kiev in December 2018.
