As well as the Rio Open and the Washington, DC Open, this weekend the IBJJF held the San Jose Open. The city of Saratoga, Calif. was the stage.
Yuri Simões, a black-belt from team Caio Terra and two-time ADCC champion, used his experience and skill to win the men’s absolute title.
Although he had also signed up to fight among super-heavyweights, Yuri couldn’t make the weight, which left him extra-hungry for gold in the open division. He had three fights between him and the title, against Nisar Noylab (Atos), Breno Bittencourt (Ares) and Victor Silvério (Gracie Barra).
